ShrubFrom the award-winning Fanbase Press, Shrub is an eight issue middle grade/teen series written by Shane and drawn by Andy Alves. Shrub is about…well…a shrub. A lonely sentient shrub who befriends a pair of grieving siblings, then hits the road in search of connection. Shane drew from his experience of losing his father and each issue features an essay from either a member of his family or people/specialists intimately familiar with grief. The first two issues were released digitally through Hoopla and Comics Plus (available with a library card) and an upcoming Kickstarter will kickoff the publication of the full collection. Hobo CodeCo-created/written/directed by Shane and Paul Pakler, this 4-part limited audio fiction series about two hobos and a young girl with a best friend who lives in a coffee can charted in the top 50 drama podcasts on Apple in its first two weeks. Featuring the voices of Bill Pullman and Susan Ruttan and an original score steeped in folk/Americana music by Maesa Pullman, Hobo Code won Bronze Signal Awards for Best Scripted Fiction Series and Best Writing for a Fiction Series and the inaugural Ear Worthy Independent Podcast Award for Best Audio Fiction Series in 2024.
