Written and co-created by Shane and Kelli Bixler at Bix Pix Entertainment, Moonlight Storytime is a series of animated shorts made for HMH, the publishing juggernaut, and released through their new Curious World app.
Based on Aesop fables, the series follows a brother and sister, Adeline and Albert who read popup book tales to their little turtle friend, Tot, in their backyard fort. Each time they open the cover and the popups fold up, the home viewer is taken into the book and the stories come to life.
Co-directed by the dynamic duo of Villamor Cruz and Kirsten Lepore, Moonlight Storytime features two forms of stop motion animation. The kids and turtle are done in traditional 3D stop motion with plasticine and ball and socket puppets and sets (designed by the award-winning staff at Bix Pix) and the popup book characters were animated in 2D paper animation (designed by Disney paper artists, Kevin Kidney and Britni Brault). It also features the voices of improv/sketch comedy peers Chris Walsh, Thea Lux and Matt Noonan.
